On Friday, October 2, 12 students from Indonesia in the SUIJI-JDP-Ms Program paid a courtesy visit to Director Kikuchi of the Center for International Collaboration.

This was part of the program in which graduate students from three universities in Indonesia (Gadjah Mada University, Bogor Agricultural University, and Hasanudin University) who study at Ehime University, Kagawa University and Kochi University participated in the joint classes (held from October 2 to October 4) conducted at Kochi University.

After the students gave a self-introduction that included their fields of specialization to the director, partly in Japanese, Director Kikuchi of the Center for International Collaboration offered the following message: “I want you to actually visit the agricultural and fishing sites and observe and learn at first-hand about how the local agriculture and fisheries are conducted from the standpoint of food security, regional contribution and community service.”

During the joint classes, the students visited the Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden to observe the tropical plants, had a site inspection tour of a supermarket to review the stages from production to sales of the farm products through regional collaboration and visited Muroto Geopark located in the eastern area of Kochi and other industrial sites utilizing regional resources.
