Saturday 15 June: Professor Masahiko Ishii (Osaka University Graduate School) gave a lecture and workshop on nonce formation in Japanese texts, including newspaper articles and academic papers. He described the features of this phenomenon and discussed its relevance in the educational setting to students’ compositions. The event was attended not only by Japanese and overseas students but also by the general public, who were fascinated to have these details of written texts revealed.
